1. What is thankyou?
thankyou is an independent gift registry service. This means you are not restricted to select items from any one store or online catalogue.
The service offers flexibility and individuality for those planning a special occasion - whether it be a wedding, a baby shower or any of life's big events.
You, the Occasion Organiser, can prepare and manage your gift registry, list anything from any store anywhere or accept cash contributions from your guests. Guests can choose to purchase items at a store convenient to them, or make a contribution towards a gift online at thankyou.
2. How is thankyou different from other gift registries?
thankyou is not aligned to any single department store or online shop. Therefore, you are able to list any kind of gifts from wherever you like - Spanish lessons or football memberships and anything in between! You can also provide your guests with the option to make a contribution towards a gift online.
Guests are able to view your registry and then purchase one of your desired gifts at a time and location convenient for them, alternatively they can make an online contribution towards one of your gifts without leaving the house!
It is possible to list the details of a department store registry on thankyou whilst also adding other items such as, a request for guests to contribute to a large piece of artwork or a holiday. Those guests wishing to purchase items at the department store can contact the store directly and follow the store's normal gift registry procedures.
3. How do I purchase a gift?
Once you have decided which gift you will purchase please remove it from the gift registry to ensure it is not also purchased by another guest. You are then able to buy the gift at your leisure, either from the suggested store listed on thankyou, or at another more convenient store. At the moment it is not possible to purchase a physical gift online at thankyou.
For those guests wishing to make a contribution towards one of the larger items on the list, it is now possible to do so online. Simply select the gift and the amount you would like to contribute, enter your credit card details and your transaction will be processed on the spot!
4. How much does it cost to use thankyou?
Organiser fees (How much does it cost me?)
An Occasion Organiser pays a maximum one off registration fee of $45 (AUD).

In addition to your gift registry, a summary of which Guests purchased what gifts will be stored for six months after the occasion. This will help you to prepare your thank-you notes after the celebrations are over.
Occasion Organisers are not charged anything to redeem funds contributed to their gift registry unless they are withdrawing those funds prior to the date of the occasion. Unless otherwise agreed, an early withdrawal fee of $5 is charged for redemptions prior to the date of the occasion. This fee has been introduced to minimise the number of intra day redemption requests that were being made by some Occasion Organisers.
Occasion Organisers redeeming contributions to a bank account of a different currency are entitled to one fee free redemption, after which, bank fees charged to thankyou may be passed on to the Occasion Organiser on subsequent redemption requests. At this stage, thankyou is only able to accept contributions in Australian Dollars, Organisers redeeming their funds to non Australian Dollar bank accounts may face additional bank charges if making more than one redemption request.

1. Isn't it a bit bold to assume my Guests want to buy me something?
Because this is a special occasion your Guests will want to give you something to help you remember the day forever. By compiling a list of items which will be really special or useful to you means that Guests know you will treasure their gift.
So, thankyou helps Guests to give you something, no matter how traditional or unusual that will add something special to your life.

You can register your Occasion and start compiling your gift registry with thankyou as early as you wish. It is important to Create a Gift Registry prior to sending out your invitations.
Your registry will be available for six months after your Occasion. This allows you to send out thankyou cards at your leisure. In some situations arrangements can be made to extend the availability of your gift registry beyond the usual six months.
5. Can I use my gift registry for more than one occasion?
It is possible to use your gift registry for an Engagement party and then a Wedding without re-registering and paying the additional registration fee. However, you will need to update the details of your gift registry before it is closed down (which is 6 months after the Engagement party date).
For all other occasions you will need to register a separate gift registry for each occasion.
6. How do I ensure there are no 'double ups' with gifts?
When Guests view your registry on thankyou they are asked to select the gift they have decided to purchase. After entering their name (to help you with your thank-you cards!) the item will be removed from the gift registry. This useful feature aims to ensure that you only receive one toaster and not 20!
It is also possible to display items on your registry that have already been purchased. New Guests cannot re-select the item, but they are able to see that the towels and wine glasses have already been purchased by another Guest.
It is up to you, the Occasion Organiser, to decide whether purchased items are displayed or not.
7. Can I ask Guests to make a contribution towards an expensive item?
Yes! It is possible to list expensive items and ask Guests to contribute to them. With thankyou's Online Contribution functionality Guests are able to choose an amount to contribute to the item and pay online using their credit card.
You can redeem the funds to your bank account and use them to help with the purchase of the item.
8. How quickly can I access my contributions? Can anyone get it?
